Prof Dato’ Sr. Dr. Azimuddin Bahari was appointed UDA Holdings Board Director on 16 April 2021. He is the Chief Executive Officer of AB Property Management Solution, a real estate consultancy and property management company, and of AB Hartatanah Solution a land matter and property inheritance consultancy company. He is also the Programme Coordinator and Chief Trainer for the Strata Professional Certificate Course in Kolej Profesional Baitulmal KL, as well as in the Council of Advisors, Land Professional Association Malaysia (PERTAMA) and President, Strata Ownership Association Malaysia (SOAM).

He has an illustrious track record of leadership in a career spanning four decades. An expert in the field of land administration and property management as well as estate planning and consultancy, his expertise also includes international affairs negotiations and was the lead negotiator for environment in the Malaysia-Chile, Malaysia-New Zealand, Malaysia-Australia, Malaysia-European Union , Malaysia-US  Free Trade Agreements and the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA).  He was also the Chief Negotiator for Climate Change under the United Nations Framework Conference on Climate Change (UNFCCC).  His expertise also spans into bio-diversity; wildlife and national parks management; marine parks management; environmental management and climate change; and mineral and geo-science. In addition, he was involved in drafting land, strata and biodiversity legislations for tabling in Parliament; and the formulation of policies on minerals, geo-science, land, bio-diversity, environment and forestry, among others.

Prof Dato’ Sr. Dr. Azimuddin Bahari was a British Council Scholar when he obtained his Ph.D (1997), and the M.Sc in Information Systems Management (1994) from Stirling University, Scotland. His first degree was the B.Sc in General Practice Surveying (Newcastle Upon Tyne, England) obtained in 1983.  He also graduated with a law degree, the Bachelor Of Jurisprudence (University Malaya) in 2005.

His career started after obtaining his Diploma in Estate Management (ITM)  in 1980 when he became an Assistant Valuer in Malik & Lee Property Consultants Sdn Bhd. Later on after obtaining his degree in 1983 he joined the Seberang Prai Municipal Council as a Valuation Officer. Within the same decade in 1988 he joined the Administrative and Diplomatic Service (Perkhidmatan Tadbir dan Diplomatik - PTD) and was first posted to the Ministry of Works becoming an Assistant Secretary at the Administrative and Human Resource Division.  In 1993 he went for further studies in the United Kingdom and on his return in 1993 he was again appointed Assistant Secretary in the Service Division, Ministry of Lands and Cooperative Development. He moved on to be the Special Officer to the Secretary-General MInistry of Land and Cooperative Development in 1998, and subsequently Head of Land Management Program, National Land and Survey Institute (INSTUN) in the year 2000.

From 2000 to 2018, he was appointed to a number of leadership positions at various departments. He was Director of Strata Titles Division and Land Information System Division at the Department of the Director-General of Lands and Mines from 2000 – 2008. He served as Undersecretary for the Mineral & Geoscience Division at the Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment (MNRE) from 2008 – 2013.  He was seconded to one of the Selangor Menteri Besar Incorporated GLCs as the  Chief Executive Officer of Kumpulan Semesta Sdn Bhd from 2013 – 2015. From the years 2015 – 2018, he was Deputy Director-General at Lands and Mines and then promoted to the position of Deputy Secretary-General for Environment at JUSA A Grade in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Prof Dato’ Sr. Dr. Azimuddin Bahari is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM); a Registered Property Manager with the Board of Valuers, Appraisers, Estate Agents and Property Managers and Member of the Malaysian Institute of Professional Facilities Managers (MIPFM). He is actively involved in reasearch and was part of the research team at RISM - Department of Valuation and Property Services (JPPH). He was also a part-time lecturer at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UITM), Universiti Islam Antarabangsa (UIA) and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Prof Dato’ Sr Dr Azimuddin Bahari has written numerous articles and books on strata development and management, property management; and land administration and management matters. He was the Chief Editor Land Journal, Department of Director General Lands & Mines (JKPTG) and Editor, Pictorial Guide to the Flora of Tasik Chini. Currently he is the Editor-In-Chief of the Land Professionals Association of Malaysia Bulletin - Gema PERTAMA.  Previously, he had been a Board Member of many prestigious institutions in Malaysia among others the Penang Bukit Bendera Development Board, Iskandar Development Board and Forest Research Institute of Malaysia Board.  In the international arena he was the Board Member of the Green Climate Fund UNFCCC and The Deputy Chairman Mining Task Force, APEC.  He has also served as Chairman of many main committees and technical committees associated with environmental conservation, wildlife protection, forest management, Heart of Borneo Initiatives and the Central Forest Spine Program.

For the excellent service rendered throughout his career, Prof Dato’ Sr. Dr. Azimuddin had been granted a number of awards firstly by the Melaka government - Darjah Johan Negeri (D.J.N) in 2013, followed by the Penang Government Awards the Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (D.S.P.N.) in 2015 and the Darjah Yang Mulia Pangkuan Negeri (D.M.P.N) in 2017. He also received the Public Service Excellence Award three times, in 1998, 2003 and 2005.
